The Radix Endeavor is a massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) for STEM learning (science, technology, engineering and math) in middle and high school. Students are challenged to work with the characters in Radix to help the people, creatures, and plants of the Radix world flourish by completing quests.
The GoalMIT's Education Arcade and Scheller Teacher Education Program received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop an immersive virtual learning experience supporting high school math and biology instruction.
The ResultsFilament and Education Arcade collaborated to develop and build Radix, which is now live to the public for play. In addition, MIT is conducting ongoing tests with teachers to measure impact and efficacy.
MIT Education Arcade STEP Program - MIT’s Scheller Teacher Education Program (STEP), begun in 1995, licenses MIT undergraduates to teach mathematics and science in grades 5-12, and also conducts research and development of new technologies in and out of school that connect learning and fun.
